Montes Classic Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

(2 customer reviews)

RM79.90

Grape Variety:

Cabernet Sauvignon 85%, Merlot 15%.

Tasting Notes:

Of vivid ruby-red colour, the wine reveals mainly fresh red fruit aromas, with the typical characteristics of Cabernet Sauvignon, such as strawberry, cherry, red plum, cassis, and a distinct note of cigar box. The eight months’ contact with French oak provides an interesting feeling of complexity, that blends toasted aromas with vanilla and sweet spice, combining very well with the fruit. The palate is balanced and very smooth; medium-bodied, but with silky tannins and a very well-defined acidity. It is an easy-to-enjoy wine, with a pleasant overall sensation.

Critic Reviews

90 Points: JamesSuckling.com, June 2022 | MONTES CABERNET SAUVIGNON VALLE DE COLCHAGUA CLASSIC SERIES 2021

Black olives, currants, black beans and hints of cedar and spice follow through to a medium to full body with firm yet creamy tannins. Fruity, with a supple texture. Drink now.

VINEYARDS
The vineyards are located in different sectors of Central Chile, with most of the grapes coming from the Colchagua Valley. However, we have also incorporated very exciting fractions of grapes from the Cachapoal and Maule Valleys. Although the soils in Central Chile are broadly similar, the Colchagua Valley stands out because of its granite-derived soils at different weathering levels. It also features
areas with strong colluvial and alluvial influences, which produce wine of enormous concentration and aromas, allowing us to keep our hallmark ripeness and full body. On the other hand, Cachapoal and Maule, which are also transverse valleys, mainly differ from Colchagua in their climatic characteristics, with Colchagua being slightly cooler in summer. In these valleys, we harvest a little earlier due to the faster ripening of the skins and seeds of the grapes, which results in fruit of great elegance and delicious perfume. In all valleys, the grapes are traditionally trellised to the vertical shoot position (with yields that do not exceed 12 tons/ha) and drip irrigated, which allows more
efficient and sustainable use of water
