Le Saint Estephe de Montrose 2014, Saint-EstepheRM239.00 RM191.20 Grape Varieties: 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet-Sauvignon Out of stock Categories: Bordeaux, France Wine, Merlot & blends, Red Wine by Country, Wine Description Reviews (0) Description Produced on the exceptional terroir of Château Montrose and made in the château’s winery, Saint-Estèphe de Montrose is the estate’s third wine, blended from wines from younger vines and lees wines. Previously available only to the estate’s owners and employees, it meets the same uncompromising quality standards as Château Montrose and La Dame de Montrose. From a terroir of gravel over clay subsoil and matured for 12 months with 15% new oak, the wine is a typical Bordeaux blend and may be enjoyed when young. The winter of 2014 was mild, while spring was favourable for all grape varieties. The vine growth cycle slowed down in August but picked up towards the end of the month in warm and dry weather which lasted until the end of October. These exceptional conditions, expressed in temperatures which often rose above 30° C, hydric stress and an almost miraculous amount of sunshine, all helped the grapes to mature. The harvest started on 15 September and ended on 16 October, following a detailed picking plan in order to harvest perfectly ripe grapes Appellation: Saint-Estèphe Owners : Martin et Olivier Bouygues Terroir : Gravel on a clay sub-soil Ageing: 12 months Blend: 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet-Sauvignon Le Saint-Estèphe de Montrose drinks well young and can be aged for three to five years. The wine is clear and bright, the nose slightly oaky, with notes of brioche, toast and cedarwood. From a clean and direct attack, the mid-palate shows great balance between freshness and fruit, together with good acidity. source: http://www.chateau-montrose.com/ Reviews There are no reviews yet.
